Blue Mountain Accommodation

The Blue Mountains are situated in New South Wales and are about 100 km west of Sydney. Their name is slightly deceptive as they are actually a series of cliffs rather than actual mountains. The name actually derives from the bluish hue of the range when they are viewed at a distance. This blue tinge is caused by the release of oils from the eucalyptus forests which cover most of the range.

The Blue Mountains are a huge tourist area and boast some fantastic attractions such as spectacular limestone caves, a toy museum, and old-fashioned steam railway and extensive nature walks. As is to be expected, the area has a range of accommodation available, from top class hotels through to B&Bs and motels. There are plenty of ‘different’ types of accommodation available too - from eco-friendly lodges, to mountain-top apartments, to farms, and retreats steeped in history.
