Airlie Beach is situated slightly south of Cairns and the Great Barrier reef and is a popular stop-off point for backpackers. The beach is a pretty and is surrounded by lush parkland and sparkling marinas. The beach itself is fairly small however there are many activities around the area to keep you occupied.

The accommodation is varied and is suitable for all budgets. There are plenty of motels, self-catering apartments and hostels around for the backpackers, as well as the slightly more upmarkets hotels and apartments. Most are concentrated around the back itself where there is a bustling nightlife with plenty of bars and clubs to keep you going until the morning.
