Phone Systems
Filed Under: Jobs, Careers & Business
A telephone system (sometimes known as a phone system) is a communication system that transmits sound between two points.
Many businesses will have their own phone systems which route internal as well as external phone calls. The advantage of having an internal phone system is that many phones can be put on the network and people can call each other easily and quickly without the need to pay. External phone calls can be made or received through the phone system and put through to the relevant extension number.
There are plenty of phone systems on the market to choose from, with lots of manufacturers. The newest phone systems on the market are IP phone systems which use IP (internet protocol) to transmit data rather than the standard analogue transmissions. IP phones need the same connections as a PC, and some can be connected via a PC. Analog phones need the ‘normal’ phone jack points which most homes have.
An IP phone system has the advantage that the phone can talk to a PC and therefore offer a range of extra features such as picking up or rejecting the call via the PC, caller ID popping up on the PC, and easy ways to access phone functions such as voicemail messages.
