Facts about job searches
Filed Under: Jobs, Careers & Business
A job search is where someone is actively looking for a new job - either because they currently do not have a job, or because they would like to change job. The main reasons why people choose to look for a new job are:
- boredom with the current job
- looking for a new job with better pay
- looking for a new job with better benefits (eg healthcare provision)
- relocating
- the company is closing down/making them redundant
- looking for a new challenge or more responsibility.
If you are looking for a new job, you can either apply to the companies directly, or you can go through an agency. A job agency is a company who collect CVs from suitable applicants and match them to companies who are looking to hire people. The agency tries to match the two sets of requirements up as closely as they can, and if the company ends up hiring the candidate, the company will pay the agency a finders fee. Normally, candidates do not need to pay a fee to the job agency.
