Water filters

A water filter is a simple device that removes impurities from the water. The water filter itself is normally some sort of physical barrier, chemical process or biological process which cleans the water. Water filters are often used to clean water for drinking water, aquariums, swimming pools and irrigation purposes.

Water filters are usually used in the home to soften water and to remove chlorine from the water. There is some research that shows that the contaminants in unfiltered water may be harmful to humans and help cause disease, but not everyone believes this. The most common problem of unfiltered water is a bad smell and/or taste.

Water filters can also be used by walkers and hikers, as well as aid organisations and the military. These water filters are light and portable and filter water by a mechanical hand pump.

Water filters must not be confused with tabletss or water purifiers. Water purifiers are better than water filters because they remove viruses from the water as well as dirt.
