MP3 Players

An MP3 player is a small electronic device which, as the name suggests, plays MP3s. MP3s are usually music tracks which can either be downloaded or ‘ripped’ from your existing CDs using special software. You can attach your MP3 player to your computer and upload these tracks and then play them.

Some MP3 players also have radio stations in them so you can listen to the radio as well.

There are lots of different brands of MP3 player on the market, and each has different advantages and disadvantages. Each MP3 track will be about 3-5 MB in size, so the primary feature of an MP3 player is how large the hard drive is as this will give a good indication of how many music tracks it will be able to hold.

The most well know manufacturers of MP3 players are:
Sony
Creative
Apple
