A mouse mat is a small mat which sits underneath your computer mouse. A mousemat, sometimes known as a mouse pad or mousepad, is there to try and enhance the movement of the mouse.

Mousepads are typically rectangular in shape, although it is also common to see them in squares and circles. Usually, mousemats are made of foam rubber with fabric attached to the upper surface, however plastics, rubber, glass, leather, wood and steel are all other materials from which mousemats have been made.

Mouse mats are often customized - lots of them have pictures or branding on them. In fact, many companies give away branded mousemats for free as a marketing tool. There are many places on the internet where you can even create your own mouse mat, complete with a picture of your choosing.
