LCD TV

Liquid Crystal Diode televisions – otherwise known as LCD TVs – are flat panel TVs. They are brighter and usually have a higher constrast than a standard CRT TV. LCD TVs also offer the benefit that you should be able to watch TV easily no matter what the lighting conditions in the room. They also do not have the flicker that TVs of old did.

LCD TVs also have a wide viewing angle of about 160 degrees meaning you can watch the picture from a variety of positions. The average lifespan of an LCD TV is also excellent – normally, they are said to last about 60,000 hours which means that even if you had the TV on constantly, it should last 7 years!

Rules of thumb for screen size vs distance you should sit from the screen:

The size of the LCD is important. The following are good rules of thumb:
20 – 27 inches: 2 – 5 feet
32 – 37 inches: 6 – 8 feet
42 – 46 inches: 10 – 14 feet
50 inches: 12 – 16 feet
