A home theater is sometimes known as a home cinema. The aim of a home theater is to link up high quality audio and visual equipment to reproduce the experience of being in a movie theater in the home.

Some people will stick with the good TV and speaker setup. Some people go further and have a special room dedicated to their home cinema, complete with comfy, reclining seats and popcorn makers!

It is difficult to draw the line between a standard television and speaker setup and a ‘home cinema’. Most people would agree that a home cinema has high-quality video source, a high quality, large TV (often a flat screen) along with multi-channel electronics and good quality speakers placed around the room to give surround sound.
