CCTV cameras - the lowdown
CCTV stands for close circuit television. CCTV is a system where a video screen interfaces with a CCTV camera and the video screen outputs (and normally records) what the CCTV video camera is seeing. Usually, the CCTV camera can spin 360 degrees as well as zoom in and out on objects. CCTV is most used for security purposes - security guards will often monitor several locations on a large screen and video tape them in case anything unlawful or illegal happens, in which case there is a true record of the event.
Mostly, CCTV systems are used in business environments, however some home owners are now turning to CCTV to help them monitor their own properties and help improve home security.
