A marquee is a type of tent. It consists of sheets of fabric or other material draped over poles which are dug into the ground. The material should be fire-retardant in order to help prevent fires.

Marquees can be used if there is the threat of rain so that people can shelter under them, or they can be used as a shady place on hot summer days.
